CLUMC is a community of Christian believers committed to loving as Jesus loved, welcoming seekers of the faith, and reaching out with caring hearts and hands to all who are in need. Our purpose is to worship God, study the Bible, grow in faith, nurture discipleship, reach out to others and serve the church and community. Our mission statement clearly summarizes our purpose: "Glorify Jesus Christ and make Disciples".

We extend an invitation to you to be our guest at an upcoming service and look forward to meeting you in person. We offer three Traditional Worship services and two Contemporary Worship services on Sunday mornings. Sunday School is held at 9:30 and 11am. We hope that this website provides the opportunity to learn more about our church and its ministries. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 281-488-5110 and we can point you in the right direction.

CLUMC Haiti Relief 2010 - We Are Still Collecting Health Kits ::

CLUMC Haiti Relief 2010 :: We Are Still Collecting Health Kits!

Many different groups are participating in supplying relief to the people of Haiti and each group does something different.
United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is asked to supply Health Kits (or as I like to call them Hygiene Kits).  These kits will be given to individuals in the camps and need to be exactly the same so no one will feel slighted or fight for the better ones.
If you would like to put together a kit or kits they need to be prepared exactly as below:

New items are to be placed in a one-gallon sealed plastic bag (e.g. Ziplock)
• 1 hand towel (15” x 25” up to 17” to 27”).  No kitchen towels.
• 1 washcloth
• 1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocket’sized)
• 1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
• 1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
• 1 toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper, no child-size brushes)
• 6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages (perhaps ones with antiseptic already applied on bandage)
• $1 to purchase toothpaste (Note:  Toothpaste is purchase in bulk to be added to health kits to ensure that the product does not expire before they are sent.)

Because the emergency kits are carefully planned to make them usable in the greatest number of situations and strict rules govern product entry into international countries, UMCOR requires that the kits contain only the requested items – nothing more.
Bring your complete kits to the church office and they will be boxed and taken to the site where they will be shipped to Haiti.
If you want to supply any medical supplies, they are shipped differently and can be brought to the church also.  Medical supplies that might be needed include (but is not limited to):
Gauze, gauze squares, tape, antiseptic creams (no liquids), cotton balls, Q-tips, antibiotic cream, scissors, thermometer, sun block, feminine products, band aids of various sizes (especially larger), roll of tums, and triangle cloths for slings.
Larger items needed are walkers, wheelchairs, and canes because so many will need help walking as they recover or from loss of leg or legs.

If you wish to assist in the relief effort, you may write a check and put it in the offering plate on Sunday mornings, or mail it to the Finance Office. Please make your check out to the church (CLUMC) and specify on the check "UMCOR" or "Haiti" and we will get it to UMCOR. Thank you for your continued support. You can also donate ONLINE at UMCOR and still give your local church credit for your online gift during the checkout process.
